Just a few questions (and maybe a suggestion or two?) about the Rule S Draft. Is this the right forum for questions about the league/league rules?
1) Am I reading the restrictions right in assuming that as soon as a player turns 27, the first two restrictions are taken off him? For example, if I have I.B. "Meaty" Ocre in the minors until he's 28, someone could draft him without him ever losing rookie status?
2) Where does the money from drafting a player go? Just a thought, but should some (or all) of it go to the team that loses the player?
3) If the drafted player doesn't spend the whole year on the 25-man roster, is he returned to the team he was drafted from? Or is he placed on waivers or the free agent list? Should there a further penalty (rest of the player's salary for the season?) assessed to the team that doesn't want the guy anymore? See below.
4) Suggestion: if you draft a guy and really don't want him on your 25-man roster anymore, what about a rule where if you put him on waivers and no one claims him you can put him in the minors? That way the team he was drafted from has a chance to claim him back, as does any other team.
4a) Possible caveat: once the player is claimed on waivers, the team claiming him must place him on their 25-man roster, excepting the team he was originally drafted from which may put him wherever they please. Or, you could just clear all restrictions on the player once he goes through waivers. Also, perhaps the team he was originally drafted from would automatically have the highest claim on him in the waivers process regardless of record?
Anyway, those are my questions and suggestions. Obviously it's your league so feel free to ignore them at will.
